1936-1950's

1936

  • Established as Yaou Shoten Ltd.

 

1953

  • First domestically made TV studio equipment delivered to NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation)
  • First domestically made front speaker system TV placed on sale

 

1955 

  • Company named changed to Yaou Denki Ltd. Kawasaki factory (now company headquarters) built
  • Company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange

 

1956 

  • Company listed on the Osaka Stock Exchange and Nagoya Stock Exchange

 

 

1960's

1960

  • The X-line, a 14-inch TV in a new design, introduced
  • First transistor ITV camera delivered (still in use today as a rear view camera for vehicles and compact camera)

 

1962

  • Mass production of water cooler for ground water launched

 

1964

  • Fujitsu General Denshi Kogyou (now Fujitsu General Electronics) established in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture
  • Succeeded in manufacturing and marketing the world's first all-transistor 9 inches color net system TV sets

 

1965

  • Polar region TV system installed on the Antarctic observation vessel Fuji
  • A technology alliance with US based Suburban develops and introduces a window air conditioner with an FF gas heating and electric cooling system

 

1966

  • Company name changed to General Ltd.

 

1967

  • Shinjo Denki Ltd. (Shinjo City, Yamagata Prefecture: now Shinjo Fujitsu General Ltd.) established

 

 

1970's

1970

  • Sale of Hybrid ICs launched (still sold today as part of power module business)

 

1971

  • Easy to install "min min" cassette air conditioner introduced Sales network formed in Middle East and Africa, air conditioner exports to the region launched

 

1974

  • Shichinohe City, Aomori Prefecture air conditioner motor factory (now Aomori business office) built, begins operation
  • Split system downward blowing air conditioner introduced First wireless analog disaster administration system (broadcast system) delivered

 

1975

  • Sales network formed in Asia, exports to the region launched

 

1976

  • North America affiliate Technica Electronics Co. (now Fujitsu General America) established

 

1977

  • Europe sales company affiliate Teteton Electro (U.K.) Co., Ltd. (now Fujitsu General (U.K.) Co., Ltd.) established
  • * Chubu General air conditioner factory (now Hamamatsu business office) completed, manufacturing of room air conditioners and heat exchangers for export markets launched
  • Window air conditioners for export markets praised for "superpower, super-quiet" performance
  • Succeeded in trial manufacture of Video Disc Player based on an agreement with TED of West Germany

  • Australia sales company affiliate General Colour Pty Ltd. (now Fujitsu General (Aust.)) established

  • First wireless analog taxi dispatching system delivered

  • Developed and marketed two-tub type washing machine with "sprinkle machanism" that mixes soap powder with water

  • Developed and marketed Japan's first TV set with built-in personal computer (MSX)
  • Sleek wall-mounted inverter air conditioner introduced
  • Export of large-capacity split system air conditioners launched

 

1984

  • Capital and business alliance with Fujitsu Ltd.

 

1985

  • Named changed to Fujitsu General Ltd.
  • Double-louver warm air heat pump air conditioner system introduced
  • Fujitsu General System Engineering established for software development through joint investment with Fujitsu Ltd.

 

1986

  • First electronic fire prevention emergency information system delivered
  • Research laboratory at company headquarters completed

  • Thailand air conditioner manufacturing company Fujitsu General (Thailand) Co. Ltd. established
  • The "Mighty Compact" mini air conditioner with lambda heat exchanger introduced

  • Japan's first 21-inch full-color monitor with a plasma display panel introduced

  • Shanghai, China air conditioner manufacturing affiliate Fujitsu General (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. established

 

1995

  • Comfortable and energy efficient air conditioner with power diffuser air flow control system introduced

  • World's first 42-inch color plasma display introduced

  • Fujitsu General EMC Laboratory, a radio interference measurement and consulting company, established

  • Export of VRF split system air conditioners launched
  • Fujitsu General Engineering (Thailand) Co., Ltd. established in Thailand, strengthening air conditioner development and technological capability
  • Total overseas product sales exceed domestic sales for the first time
  • "Sophisticated Breathing" Series with new "Automatic Open/Close Panel" mechanism and world's first "Senshinkokyu®" system placed on sale.
  • Plasmavision® W, featuring high precision and high brilliancy display realized by adoption of ALIS system.
  • Fujitsu General Electronics Ltd. established.

  • World's first absorption cooling type refrigerators "Neostage™" placed on sale
  • General Care Service Ltd. founded to provide care service at Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture

 

2001

  • First compact, wide-angle camera system for vehicles delivered
  • First all-digital video processor "AVM" (Advanced Video Movement) for exclusive use with plasma displays placed on sale.AVM's were incorporated into all units

 

2002

  • Taiwan local sales affiliate Fujitsu General (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. established
  • First digital wireless disaster prevention administration (broadcast) system delivered
  • NOCRIA air conditioner with the world's first automatic self-cleaning filter system introduced
  • Fujitsu General receives the first Emmy ever awarded in the PDP field for contributions made by its plasma display technology to the broadcasting industry (visual communication business ends in March 2008)
  • Entry into market for multi air conditioning system for buildings in earnest
